Week 3: Character Interactions

Consider your game idea and character interactions: What Genre best describes this game?

The best genre to describes the game that I ended up settling on would be action- adventure game. I elected to not go with the horror idea based on the urban legend that I proposed last week, as it isn't easy to create a "horror" style game without it feeling "goofy." Instead, my idea would be more inspired by larger narrative style games. The specific interaction is a conversation.

What are the technical requirements for the interaction to occur.

In order to implement the interaction that I'd be going for, I'd need to create a dialogue tree and trigger character interactions. I'd need to make the flow of the interaction feel natural by adjusting timing and delivery of dialogue.

Presentation Slides:

"The player character is a mercenary who travels around, completing jobs. The player has been offered a job and is going to meet the contractor to negotiate the terms of the offer. In the greater scheme of the game, the scene that will play out will determine the gameplay actions and NPC perceptions of the player. "

The project that i will being working on will be a vertical slice of a greater overall game.

"The end goal of the player is to have a conversation with an NPC that determines the outcome of the scene; the outcome of this conversation is determined by the choices the player makes throughout the conversation. The scene will also feature a cinematic overview. "

"The player will overhear conversations through closed doors on their way to meet the negotiator; whispered rumours. The primary interaction will occur with the NPC you negotiate with and will make use of a dialogue tree to change the outcome of the conversation based on what the player chooses."
